Witchcraft or Witchhunt
Summary:
Students will read the play THE CRUCIBLE in their American literature class. Social Science teachers will introduce the project, assist the students in their research on the internet in the library computer lab, and present the criteria and rubric for evaluation. The Library Media Teacher will assist in the search strategies and collection of information in the library, webpage evaluation, and MLA documentation of sources. The Language Arts teachers will instruct the students in organizational and notetaking methods. The final project will be graded by the Social Science teacher for content and the Language Arts teacher for correct usage of language and form.

Learning and Teaching Activities:
Students will :

Collaboratively create a 7-day diary from the perspective of an accused witch or accused Communist.

Present a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint that compares the two diaries for similarities and differences.

Write a newspaper article reporting the trial.
