A Gallery of "Art-i-facts"
Summary:
This lesson focuses on the influence of history on art and art on history. It is ideal to use as a culminating project at mid-course or at the end of the course in World History. It allows students to choose their area of focus and enhance the curriculum. Students should be familiar with art as it relates to history and culture and have basic Internet searching skills. This Webquest encourages students to explore cultural elements that are common to all cultures and study the historical, cultural and geographic aspects of a specific region through that region's art.

Learning and Teaching Activities:
The students work in small groups to design an art gallery of art from a specific region of the world. They present their plan to a committee interested in endowing them with financial support to create a gallery in their museum that teaches the public about the cultural, historical and geographical aspects of their chosen region.

Outcomes and Assessment:
A detailed rubric guides students' preparation and presentation of project. Student performance will be evaluated by how well they complete the tasks defined in the rubric.

Materials Needed:
A presentation system that projects a large image of the computer screen is ideal to use for students' presentations. Maps will also enable students to prepare the portion of their presentation dealing with geography.
